Dear Sir/Madam,
Re: Betty Cuthbert Av parking
I bring your attention to the lack of parking signs in Betty Cuthbert Av Ermington.
Since the widening of the adjoining Victoria Rd, parking signs that indicate ‘rear to kerb’ are few, and are not spaced sufficiently for motorists to see.
We all know from experience that parking officers are generally out to pounce rather than consider. I hope to save you, the officers and motorists a lot of angst and correspondence that eventuates with lack of adequate signage.
I hope you will consider a review of the situation.
I thank you for your time and assistance.
Yours sincerely,
Philip Prideaux
 Response
Parramatta City Council
Service Manager, Traffic and Transport at Parramatta City Council Richard Searle, responded on 6 August 2014 and the letter stated that arrangements have been taken to maintain faded signs in accordance with their attached sketch plan.
I do not believe that motorists should pay parking fines in areas that have insufficient, unclear or ambiguous signage.
There was no answer to the question of parking signs in adequate numbers and spaced sufficiently for motorists to see.
Nor did council bother to stipulate what a sufficient signage policy would be. This could indicate that there isn't one.
Previous experience (see case-01) has shown that follow-up correspondence with Parramatta City Council is ignored.
Unresolved!
